Glenn Blackman Trade Receivables Securitisation Panel Moderator At The Alternative & Receivables Financing Forum 2024
BCR were kind enough to invite me back again this year to moderate a panel at the 10th Alternative & Receivables Financing Forum 2024. This was held at Clifford Chance in London.
The Trade Receivables Securitisation Panel
The panel drew together some of the leading experts in the field of trade receivables securitisation which made for an informative discussion.
The participants included senior figures from Lloyds Bank, BNP Paribas, Fasanara Capital, J. P. Morgan and Simmons and Simmons, a leading law firm in this field.
An Explanation Of Trade Receivables Securitisation
Trade receivables securitisation enables large corporates to sell pools of outstanding invoices to create an additional source of business funding.
Note: For a more detailed explanation of this subject see this article by Demica that explains: trade receivables securitisation.
Trends, Innovations & Risk Mitigation
In addition to recent industry trends, technology and innovations the discussion covered the mitigation of key challenges such as dealing with performance volatility, customer concentrations and regulatory developments.
Assets & Flexibility
The discussion covered the innovation surrounding the assets that can be included in receivables securitisation. Panelists noted how this evolution is expanding the scope of what is possible, making securitisation programmes more flexible and attractive to a broader range of companies.
The Role Of Artificial Intelligence
On the topic of technology, the potential for artificial intelligence (AI) was a standout theme. Panelists highlighted the transformative role AI could play, particularly in the legal and decision-making processes associated with structuring securitisation deals. This sparked a debate about how innovation can help reduce complexities and streamline the execution of these transactions.
Cross-Border Challenges
Jurisdictional challenges emerged as a critical barrier to cross-border receivables securitisation. The discussion touched on the significant costs associated with conducting due diligence across multiple legal frameworks, underscoring the importance of finding efficient solutions to these costly hurdles
I hope that my role as moderator helped ensure that these complex topics were discussed in a focused way and that the session offered attendees some valuable insights into the future of trade receivables securitisation.
